Any Given Sunday.......

Since not everyone has been a part of a church plant I thought I would enlighten you on what this looks like for The Commons.

We meet every Sunday morning at Post Middle School for a 10:30am service. In order to do this there is a small group of people who meet up at the school at 8:3oam. We have a van that pulls a trailor full of the eqiupment that we use. This includes all the lighting, audio equipment, piping and drape, tables, kids toys, coffee and accessories. Then we start putting the place together. This means setting up a worship area, setting up a welcom area, setting up a preschool care center and a children's area. I remember the first time I assisted in the set-up and had no idea what I was going to be doing. I walked around and found the stuff that needed to be done and after a few weeks of setting up.....I think I figured out my spot....making coffee and hot water!! This morning it hit me hard how 'easy' I had it at my previous church. I took for granted all the things that it took to make the church function on any given Sunday. We generally have it set up by 10am and then the service ends at about noon.

I have to share something here. When I left The Summit I was afraid that I wouldn't experience worship the way I did there. And this was obvious but as much as I enjoy worship it made me a little sad. Well to sit there and watch Tim and Amy Corbin leading worship on Sunday mornings is just amazing. I have to keep focused because I am running the power point slides for the words. Last week and today were some especially moving times for me during worship. And the only explanation.......Jesus. I love it!

Then it's time for breakdown and this generally doesn't take as long as it did to set-up....naturally. For a couple of Sundays I wondered why we didn't go out to eat as a group. One....everyone up here is on support but that was a special time for me back home and there are so many places, local, around town that I have wanted to try. After doing this a few weeks....I understand why you don't do much after 'tearing down' a church......you are tired!! I used to take naps on Sundays and I have a much better appreciation for them now!

Next......I will tell you about what the rest of the week looks like for The Commons and me. :-)

Thanks! Take care all!!
